Harvest Supper Apple Crisp Recipe

20 cups peeled and coarsely chopped apples (We used Mac’s)
2.5 cups of sugar
2.5 cups of flour
2 sticks of unsalted butter
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
16 oz. of toffee bits (we used heath bar)
2 cups of old fashioned oats
Baking spray for the pan
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. You will need a 12Wx20Lx2D inch aluminum pan
    1. You can find them at the dollar store at the Eastfield Mall next to Sears. The exact dimensions may be off but the depth is accurate.
  3. Mix the apples, 1 1/2 cups of the sugar, ½ cup of the flour, and pour it into the pan that has been sprayed generously with PAM.
  4. In a large bowl, mix together the remaining 2 cups of flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and baking powder and whisk them together.
  5. Stir in the remaining cup of sugar, the toffee bits, and the rolled oats
  6. Melt the last stick of butter and pour it over the mixture and mix well.
  7. Pour the topping over the apples evenly. It will seem generous but the results are amazing.
  8. Bake 45 to 50 minutes in the middle of the oven until golden brown. (Remember that the toffee chips have chocolate in them and when they melt it looks like the top may be burning in spots)
