100th Anniversary of Or Lady of Fatima

On Saturday, October 14th we joined 20,000 other groups with a Public Square Rosary to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions of our Lady of Fatima at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. 

Friends of the Homeless

Volunteers from St. Catherine of Siena Church continue to feed the homeless on the second Thursday of every month.  Please call the office at 783-8619 if you are interested in joining us.

Concerned About the Homeless

Many thanks to Sarah Tanner, Development Director of the Friends of the Homeless, for visiting us and discussing the state of homelessness in the greater Springfield area and how Friends of the Homeless is providing for those in need.  As a follow-up we will carpool for a field trip to the Friends of the Homeless facility for a tour of all they offer on Tuesday, March 21st immediately after the 9 AM Mass.  All are welcome; please call Judy Lloyd at 783-8619 if you have any questions.

Souper Bowl of Caring

The countdown is on! Super Bowl Sunday falls on February 5th this year. Last year the FBI Youth Ministry participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring fundraiser and, thanks to your generosity, they raised $461.71 to support the Open Pantry. Once again, the FBI Youth Ministry kids will be present, with soup pots in hand, following all Masses on the weekend of February 4th & 5th to accept your generous donations for this worthy cause. The need is greater than ever this year. This is just a reminder that there’s still time to get in shape, dust off your uniforms and join the team to help tackle hunger in our community. 

Hope Tote Campaign

On February 1st, the Springfield Rescue Mission is kicking off its yearly Hope Tote campaign. Purple Hope Tote bags will be available in the church lobby. Please take a bag, fill it with toiletries and return it to the church lobby.

Items in need: shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and body wash, brushes, combs, tissues, deodorant, disposable razors, shaving cream, body lotion, body powder, lip balm; also underwear and socks for men, women and children. Both trial size and full sized products are needed. Thank you for your help!

Christmas Pageant Mass

We are looking for children and youth of all ages to participate as readers, gift bearers, actors for the pageant (no speaking required), and assist with other parts of the mass. Those who would like to be readers and participants in the pageant will have rehearsal on Sunday, December 11th from 12:00 to 1:30 PM and Sunday, December 18th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. If you are interested in participating in any part of the mass, please meet in the Father Griffin Room.

Lessons & Carols for the Epiphany

You are cordially invited to the Saint Catherine of Siena annual evening of Lessons & Carols for the Epiphany, Sunday, January 8, 2017 starting at 4 PM. This is a beautiful time to sit and reflect on the spirit of Christmas with an evening of beautiful readings and music performed by the youth and adult choirs of the parish. There will be refreshments and an opportunity for fellowship immediately following the program. There is no cost to attend but non-perishable food item will be welcome. 
Any youth or adult who are interested in volunteering to participate in this event are most welcome. We need readers, singers, greeters, ushers, bakers and alter servers. If interested please contact Susan parent at 348–7800 or the parish office at 783–8619.

Warm Wish Bags

As the cold weather quickly approaches, the Youth Ministry Team needs your help. They are collecting new hats, gloves or mittens and and socks to make Warm Wish Bags for the less fortuante of our community. there will be a display in the Church lobby for you to drop off donations. Thank you in advance for your help.

Catholic Annulments Informational Meeting

Join Deacon Jack Antaya for an informational meeting on the topic of Catholic Annulment: the truth, misconceptions, and why everyone is confused about the process. If you are divorced or know someone who is divorced, please join us on December 6th at either 10:00 AM or 7:30 PM in the Father Griffin Room. Perhaps, you can experience the welcoming and healing presence of Jesus Christ as we adress concerns surrounding annulments.

Thank You for A Great Harvest Supper

Boy Scout Troop 303 wishes to extend many thanks to the leadership and parishioners of St. Catherine of Siena parish for their continued support of the annual Harvest Supper. This year was no exception, serving a sellout crowd! Thanks to your support, the Troop will continue to enhance its training program for adult and youth leaders and advance three scouts to the rank of Eagle in this scouting year, totally 15 in five years

Safe Environment Training

Any Volunteeer connected to an official event or ministry of St Catherine of Siena needs to complete the following training every three years:
  • A CORI Application
  • Safe Environment Training
  • Signed Diocesan Code of Conduct
Please bring an active Driver’s License or U.S. Passport (a copy must be sent with your CORI application).

Youth Ministry International Potluck

St. Catherine of Siena Youth Ministry (F.B.I.) invites you to a Thanksgiving "International" Potluck on Friday November 18th at 6pm, in the Parish Center. Bring a friend  and a Dish to share and join us for a night of food, friends and fun.
